Just the Hindi you need

You Can Count on It!

One of the “basics” most travel phrasebooks forget is counting – yet how many times do you use numbers in the course of an average day? Every time you look at your watch, tell someone the date, ask for a certain amount of product in the market, or even get off the elevator at a certain floor, you’re using numbers – and if you don’t know the numbers in Hindi, your trip to India will be sorely handicapped.

We already know you can recognize a numeral five or seven when you see it – but can you recognize the Hindi words when someone tells you the time of day? For this, you’ll need to click the blue audio button beside each number in the lesson, listen carefully, and even repeat the word aloud. For additional practice, try figuring out other numbers not spelled out in the lesson. If you know how to say twenty and you know how to say eight, can you say 28? Try it and see!
